Mineral balance and the role that heavy metal burden can play in PANS/PANDAS

Becky Latorre MED, RDH, FNTP, FSS, BCHN. As a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner(FNTP), I use a holistic approach to health and nutrition. I assess symptoms and imbalances in the body and determine their root cause. I focus on the whole person, considering each client’s bio-individual needs. Each person has their unique circumstances such as age, chronic conditions, food sensitivities, and stress levels that must be considered when making nutritional and lifestyle recommendations. There is not a one-size-fits-all approach to nutritional therapy.

I do not diagnosis or treat disease but I help you balance the foundations of health which include digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acid status, hydration, mineral balance and nutrition. As these foundations come back into balance, through real food and targeted supplementation, health issues will be addressed and supported. Nutritional therapy is very powerful and offers much hope and healing to the body. Optimal health and wellness can be achieved through a holistic approach to nutrition.

In my practice, I work with clients to lower inflammation, the root cause of many chronic conditions. I support autoimmune wellness, gut health, blood sugar regulation, and hormone balance.

I am a wife and mom of 2. I am a Registered Dental Hygienist, Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and an autoimmune warrior.

After my rheumatologist confirmed that my immune system was abnormal, and had early signs of Lupus, I was motivated to seek out a natural way to deal with my symptoms and feel better.

I reshaped my eating habits; taking in healing nutrient dense foods and leaving behind inflammatory processed foods, refined sugars and oils. I avoided dairy and grains because of food sensitivities. I also focused on getting better quality sleep and transitioned to a gentler exercising routine.

Because of my own successes with the healing foods, I wanted to help others on their path to health. This desire led me to the Nutritional Therapy Association and its Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner program.

As I started my studies in the FNTP program, my daughter Alyah, began her own journey dealing with health issues. After a bout with the flu, she just couldn’t bounce back. She suffered from fatigue, excessive weight loss, and extreme abdominal pain every time she ate.

Nutritional therapy has made the difference in our health journey. To have an autoimmune condition has been challenging and difficult for me to deal with, but to have my daughter have to walk a similar path has been unbearable! She has suffered greatly physically and emotionally because of her condition. God has guided me on my own path of healing and he has guided me as I have cared for my daughter.

I know the fear, pain and frustration of having a chronic health condition. I also know those emotions caring for a loved one who is struggling with one. I am here to encourage and give assurance that hope and healing can be found through nutritional therapy! Your story matters and I am here to help you on your health journey!

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS IN NEUROINFLAMMATORY ILLNESSES IN CHILDREN

GREGG S. GOVETT, M.D., D.A.B.E.M, F.A.A.O.A. F.A.A.O.H.N.S.

Dr. Gregg S. Govett, M.D. is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is practicing in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He became certified by the American Board of Environmental Medicine after completing all the instructional courses and examinations given by the American Board of Environmental Medicine. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

He graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine and completed his post-graduate residency training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.

He became interested in environmental medicine by accident. His first patient with chronic sinusitis after completing his residency training program was a four year old boy with a lifelong history of illness. The child had had two sets of tympanostomy tubes and an adenoidectomy and was now plagued with chronic sinusitis. Despite sinus surgery and normal humoral immune laboratory testing, the boy continued to have infections. The child was noted to have numerous inhalant allergens and was begun on immunotherapy. However, Dr. Govett performed a serologic test for foods and the child had a questionable reaction to oats. Once the patient stopped eating oats, he was not ill for another nine months. Since that patient, Dr. Govett has continued to evaluate patients for environmentally induced causes of chronic otolaryngic illnesses.

Dr. Govett practiced otolaryngology in Chickasha, Oklahoma from 1995-1998. During that time, he encountered a rare, reportable malignancy along with other malignancies that exceeded the statistical incidence of those malignancies in that county. Using toxicology testing, Dr. Govett determined that the malignancies were induced by chlorinated pesticides. Upon making this find, Dr. Govett discovered that crop dusting was pioneered in Grady County, Oklahoma after WWII. This is another example of environmental causes of human pathology.

Beyond Freshness: Harnessing the Immune-Boosting and Antimicrobial Properties of Lyophilized Donkey Milk

Research by: Zuzia Tomkielska, Leva Dapkevicius, Marcos Couto, Duarte Toubarro

Zuzia Tomkielska is a highly motivated and enthusiastic young researcher with a masters degree who is currently working in the cosmetic field. She recently secured her first contract with an international company in the cosmetics industry. Zuzia's research interests are focused on active compounds and cosmeceuticals, which play an important role in developing new and innovative cosmetic products

Our study demonstrates that pasteurized and lyophilized milk donkey milk produced by Asinus Atlaniticus company retains the beneficial properties, including antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, and antioxidant activities. Specifically, our tests also revealed that key components of milk, such as lysozyme and immunoglobulins are preserved in the lyophilized product, exhibit antimicrobial properties that can help protect against microorganisms, including Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Additionally, our analysis found high levels of immunoglobulin G, which are essential for the human immune system. Importantly, we also confirmed that the lyophilized product retains these immunoglobulins even after

processing.

Furthermore, research using the Drosophila model has provided evidence of the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects of lyophilized donkey milk. Specifically, studies have shown that the consumption of whey proteins of lyophilized donkey milk can help to modulate the immune response, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health outcomes.

Overall, our findings suggest that careful pasteurization and lyophilization under specific conditions can help preserve the beneficial properties of Donkey milk, including its immune-boosting and antimicrobial effects.

Homeopathy & PANDAS / PANS

Erin’s journey into homeopathy took a rather circuitous route. As a personal trainer and gym owner, she became passionate about helping her clients reach their highest potential. This led her to author the book Mind Over Fatter: The Secret to Thinking Yourself Thin, to begin a speaking and coaching business, and to lead trainings around the country.

In 2013, when her son was diagnosed with a difficult illness, and after countless visits to doctors and specialists, Erin learned about the power of homeopathy as it was the first treatment that actually made a difference. It was at that point she began researching and in 2018, after several years of individual study, she joined a course offered by Dr. Angelica Lemke and begin more official training.

Erin brings over a decade of experience with autoimmune disease from both the parenting and personal perspective as well as nearly two decades of experience learning alongside chiropractors and naturopaths alike. Her knowledge in the natural medicine field is invaluable and her personal experience allows for an empathic and intuitive approach that is unparalleled.

Erin works primarily with complex children and their families. She resides in Central Texas with her teenage son and her gentle giant of a dog, Thor.

Erin is also the host of The AutoCOMMUNITY Podcast, where she speaks with doctors, patients, healers and experts in an effort to bring together the best information available to the growing community of people looking for unconventional routes to healing.
